location of our cottage has me fishing out from Lyal Island and south to Little Pike Bay. We are catching them but not quite the quantity or size found south. Can any one tell me why? Can we excpect more fish up our way?

Fish stocked on our side are not released up stream to get imprinted. You'll have to ask the ministry why. Our club can only do what we are told, so the fish get realeased at the mouths of the Saugeen, Sauble and Pike's Bay. 60-70 thousand smolts in a big lake are spread very thin for those that make it. The american fish tend to migrate counter clockwise then peel off looking for their home stream. Our fish when the urge comes follow the shore and will go up any river on either side. The size is related to age and food supply. You may be holding fish that are still inmature and leave for other areas the next year. If you look at Lake Ontario our fish are small anyway (diet) Lake Huron also has the largest #'s of invasive species which screws up the ecosystem big time. If your not a Lake Huron Fishing Club member join, you can learn a lot and maybe even help out.
